Dragging an app to the Trash leaves its settings, caches and containers behind in your Library. Uninstaller finds every file an app put on your Mac, shows you what each one is, and moves the lot to the Trash, where you can still change your mind.

Where apps hide things

Uninstaller looks in every place macOS apps write to, in your own Library and in the shared system folders.

Thorough, and careful about it
Finds everything. Removes only what you tick.
Every file is listed by category with its size and location. Nothing leaves your Mac until you press Move to Trash.
Knows what’s shared
Word, Excel and PowerPoint share folders. Files another installed app uses are marked Shared and left unticked, so removing one app never breaks another.
Everything goes to the Trash
Nothing is deleted outright. Put things back from the Trash until you empty it, the same way you would in Finder.
Stops background jobs
Launch agents and daemons are unloaded before their files move, and running apps are asked to quit first.
One password for system files
Files owned by macOS, like helpers in /Library, are marked with a lock. macOS asks for your password once for all of them.
Drag, drop, done
Pick an app from the list, drop one on the window or the Dock icon, or press ⌘O. Apps in Downloads work too.
Already deleted something?
Clean up after apps you removed years ago.
Leftovers lists files named after apps that are no longer on your Mac. Apps in Downloads, on the Desktop or inside other apps still count as installed, so their files stay put.

Careful by design
It would rather leave a file than take the wrong one.
An uninstaller has one job it must never get wrong. These rules are built in and cannot be switched off.

- Open it once. Uninstaller isn’t notarized by Apple yet, so macOS stops it the first time. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
- Turn on Full Disk Access. Without it, macOS hides other apps’ data. Uninstaller shows a button that takes you straight to the setting.
- Pick an app, or open Leftovers. Untick anything you want to keep, then press Move to Trash.
